The summer youth employment initiative kicked off in the winter/spring of 2023 with attending career fairs at Independence and Beechcroft high schools; along with sponsoring the Classic for Columbus Job Fair to recruit students for paid summer opportunities.
Ultimately, The Commission in collaboration with My Brother’s Keeper (MBL) engaged 360 youth in employment opportunities that supported skill development in areas such as content creation, videography, fashion, and more.   Internships were curated with the purpose of preparing youth for career pathways in growing industries.
The culminating event for the summer was ContentCON, an event that highlighted the exceptional work of the youth by showcasing projects they worked on throughout the summer.
